Structural Opening Work in Bewdley: RSJ Found Hidden Inside a Concrete Lintel

Props supporting the opening at the rear of a commercial property in Bewdley after the concrete lintel was broken out to reveal an RSJ
The opening safely supported, with the RSJ visible inside the concrete lintel.

We started opening up the rear of this commercial property in Bewdley to form a wider structural opening. The plan was to remove the existing concrete lintel, but once we got into it we found an RSJ fully encased inside the concrete.

An unexpected find

What should have been a straightforward removal turned into a much heavier job. That is construction for you: no two jobs ever go exactly to plan. Everything was safely supported and carefully dismantled, ready for the new steel to go in. This is a progress update, as the new steel was still to be fitted when this photo was taken.
