I recently laid a new paved garden path in Bubbenhall, Warwickshire, to give a customer with mobility issues safer, easier access to their back door.
A garden path built around the customer’s mobility needs
The brief was simple: a practical, neat and durable route to the back door that suits the way the customer actually gets around. The photos show the groundwork, with the line of the path set out and the base prepared before the slabs went down, and then the finished paving running between the hedges.
Paving for people with mobility issues
A path for someone with mobility issues starts with a firm, well-prepared base and slabs laid neatly, so the surface is flat and stable underfoot. The best route and width depend on how the person gets around day to day, so it is worth talking it through on site before any work starts.
